About the maker

A lifelong artist and graduate of The School of Visual Arts, NYC, Eric Ewing started making historically-inspired folk art bags in 2013 after hunting for the first time in ancestral lands in Virginia with a traditional flintlock blackpowder rifle.

Eric has made over 200 unique bags and other accoutrements that have received awards at Dixon’s Gunmakers Fair and have been featured in the pages of Muzzleloader Magazine and other national publications. His work has appeared on the television show “Outsiders”, the Amazon Video Series “Underground Railroad”, and the Netflix Movie “The Rat Catcher” directed by Wes Anderson. The ability to combine his love for the arts, the outdoors, and Americana themes continues to drive his passion to create unique pieces that express folk-art sensibilities and celebrate the materials and shapes found in the natural world.
